致北京科技大学境外师生一封信

各位身处境外的老师们、同学们：

Dear all teachers and students abroad: 

你们好！2020年伊始，因为一场新冠肺炎疫情的蔓延，每一寸中国土地上的每一位中国人都投身于一场全民战“疫”中，团结一心、奋勇拼搏，全力以赴为之“奋战”。目前，在习近平主席的坚强领导下，国内新冠肺炎疫情防控工作取得了阶段性成效，疫情防控形势积极向好的态势不断巩固和拓展。在这场全民战“疫”中，北京科技大学全面安排防控部署，全校上下积极应对，力所能及为抗击疫情贡献着智慧和力量，实现了截至目前全校师生员工“零感染”的防控成果，确保北科大校园一方平安。

Greetings! Since the begi-nning of 2020, each of us has been involved in a nationwide battle against the COVID-19 outbreak, and have demonstrated a united and courageous effort to contain the virus. Thus far measures to prevent the spread of the epidemic within China have achieved considerable success under the leadership of President XI Jinping, and have shown a demonstrable trend towards containing and elimi-nating the epidemic. During this nationwide battle, USTB has done its best to contribute its knowledge and hard work, and has achieved a result of “zero infections” within the university thanks to the diligence of campus security. 

近日，境外部分地区新冠肺炎感染者数量持续攀升，防控形势愈发严峻复杂，世界卫生组织将新冠肺炎全球风险级别调整至最高级别“非常高”。人在海外，安全第一。各位身处境外的老师们、同学们，你们的生活和身体状况深深牵动着学校全体师生员工的心！在这特殊的时期，我们有一些建议供大家参考：

Recently the number of overseas confirmed cases of COVID-19 has begun to soar, complicating efforts to contain and prevent the further spread of the virus. The World Health Organization has raised the global risk level of COVID-19 to that of “pandemic”, its highest level. Remember, safety comes first when you are abroad. USTB is concerned about the health and safety of all its teachers and students abroad! During this spe-cial period, we have made some suggestions for your reference: 

——坚定信心，同心战“疫”。老师们、同学们，信心是最长效的疫苗，国内疫情防控工作取得的成效可以证明，新冠肺炎疫情是可防、可控、可治的。希望大家保持积极乐观、稳定平和的心态，要坚信疫情终将过去，春天必将到来，世界各国人民必将打赢这场疫情防控阻击战。

——Be confident in yourself and work together to fight against the epidemic. Teachers and students, confidence is the most effective vaccine. China’s suc-cess in containing and preventing the spread of the epidemic proves that the COVID-19 is preventable, controllable and treatable. We hope everyone can remain optimistic and calm, and firmly believe that the epidemic will be defeated; spring will soon come, and people worldwide will see ultimate success in the battle against the virus.

——遵守法规，科学防疫。希望大家严格遵守当地政府、所在院校的疫情防控规定，密切关注国内和当地疫情信息动态，避免前往人员密集的公共场所活动。要做好个人防护，保持良好个人卫生习惯，勤洗手、戴口罩，加强身体锻炼，增强自身免疫力。要主动学习传播科学防疫知识，坚决抵制网络谣言和不实信息，增强防范意识。

——Comply with all laws and regulations, and adopt a scientific approach to fight the epidemic. You are expected to strictly abide by the epidemic prevention and control measures of local governments and schools, pay close attention to information regarding local conditions, and avoid going to crowded public places. You must use protective equipment and maintain good personal hygiene, such as washing hands, wearing masks, and doing exercise, all to enhance your own immunity. Take the initiative to learn about and spread reputable scientific knowledge concerning epidemic prevention methods, resolutely resist online rumors and false information, and enhance your own awareness of ongoing conditions.

——坚持学习，密切联系。希望大家在守护好自身及家人的健康安全的前提下，充分利用好国际优质教育科研资源和线上教学资源，坚持潜心学习研究，发扬“求实鼎新”的奋进精神，努力实现自我提升，不断开阔国际视野、丰富知识储备。要与学校保持密切联系，按照学校相关要求，做好体温自测，每日完成信息填报，如遇任何困难请及时与学校联系。未经批准，暂时不要返回境内，尤其是暂勿返京、返校。

——Keep learning, and keep in touch. We hope that, under the premise of ensuring the health and safety of yourself and your families, you can make full use of high-quality international educa-tional and scientific research resources and online teaching resources, adhere to your own study and research, carry forward the spirit of USTB in “Seeking Truth and Endorsing Innovation”, achieve self-improvement, and seek to constantly broaden your international vision while enrich-ing your intellectual reserves. Please keep in touch with USTB, continue to measure your body temperature regularly, and report the information every day accord-ing to the relevant requirements. If you have any difficulties, please contact us immediately. We stress that for the time being you should not return to China, and in particular to Beijing or USTB, unless you have been authorized .

万众一心，没有翻不过的山；心手相牵，没有跨不过的坎。请记住，北京科技大学永远是你们最坚实的后盾，让我们共同期待世界春暖花开、疫情烟消云散，祝愿每一位身处境外的师生及家人身体健康、平安归来！

Any mountain can be conqu-ered and any barrier can be overcome if the people are united in solidarity. Please remember that USTB will always continue to support you. Let us anticipate the day when spring flowers blossom and the epidemic is finally defeated. We wish you and your family good health and safe return!
